TRADE: Darnold Headed to Carolina!

The Panthers have another QB on the roster besides Teddy Bridgewater to compete for the starting job. Hallelujah! Panthers' Twitter certainly erupted at the news, with very mixed opinions.

While many were expecting the Panthers to be aggressive in acquiring their franchise guy through the draft, or in the form of a Texan a la Deshaun Watson, but Fitterer goes after the former top 3 pick in Sam Darnold. Let's analyze this deal:

In college, Darnold threw a total of 57 TD to 22 INT during his career, being supplied with playmakers like JuJu Smith-Schuster and Ronald Jones II. When the ball is in his hand, he can make plays inside or outside the pocket, showing good pocket presence and stature. This was emphasized in New York due to the horrific offensive line he endured there.

With Carolina, he'll be getting a top 10 weapons core including DJ Moore, Robby Anderson, and CMC. He has Taylor Moton, a top-right tackle in the league, and the potential to add a franchise left tackle in the deep position class this year. Snow's defense is young and athletic but was one of the better units down the stretch, holding an Aaron Rodgers-led offense to a field goal in the 2nd half. The Panther's defense should definitely give Darnold chances to get back on the field.

The future is bright for Darnold in this offense, and it's up to him to perform. Will he be the Week 1 starter? Is draft compensation enough to confirm him as a starter? Do the Panthers draft a QB? Leave your thoughts below.
